Way back in 1988 I began my career with New Driver. I first trained to become a Professional Driving Instructor (PDI), and then qualifyied as an Advanced Driving Instructor (ADI). 25 years on from my ADI, I am the Managing Director of a fleet of instructors across the south of England. I continue to use my experience in the trade to help all my driving instructors to increase their income and progress their careers.
Why become a driving instructor?
How do you become a driving instructor?
There are three stages to pass in order to qualify as a driving instructor. New Driver will provide you with all of the information, training and support you will need to pass each of the three parts of your driving instructor qualification.
The first part is the theory test. New Driver will provide you with the ADI starter pack and official text books as recommended by the DVSA.
The second part is a driving test. New Driver provides 10 hours one-to-one in car sessions with your dedicated trainer, you will cover all elements of the driving technique syllabus.
This examines your ability to teach others to drive. Your dedicated trainer will provide a further 20 hours of in-car practical sessions. Together, you will cover all of the elements of the instructional ability syllabus. You'll also be expected to do around 20 hours of additional home study.
New Driver have been training driving instructors across the UK for over 25 years. We provide you with all of the resources and support you’ll need to first pass and then succeed as a driving instructor.
